Recent reports from Cameroon's presidential election, held yesterday, October 12, 2025, have sparked a buzz on social media due to the unusual appearance of Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah on a voter's register. A photo of Salah appeared on the electoral list of the Ngaoundéré III polling station, and according to some reports, a check on the Elections Cameroon (Elecam) website confirms a person is registered under this identity. 
This comes amidst President Paul Biya's bid for an unprecedented eighth term, extending his nearly 43 years in power. Biya, at 92, is the world's oldest sitting head of state, and is widely expected to win against a fragmented field of 11 challengers. His long tenure has drawn criticism, with opponents questioning his health, leadership, and the fairness of the electoral process. 
While the appearance of Salah on the register has sparked online reactions and concerns about the reliability of electoral lists, it's crucial to note that it's highly improbable the footballer himself registered to vote in Cameroon, as he is an Egyptian citizen and currently focused on his international football career with Egypt.
